Strategic Planning and Management in Retailing (17 - 20 June 2013)

Learn how to develop winning retail strategies, sustain competitive advantage and manage retail operations for higher sales and profits. Led by Professor Larry Ring and John Strong, two of the most respected retail management educators in the USA, the Strategic Planning and Management in Retailing programme provides participants with tools to develop winning retail strategies and an integrated framework for data driven retail strategic resource management. This framework facilitates better management of retail operations for higher sales and profits.

Conducted annually in Melbourne and Singapore for more than 10 years, the Strategic Planning and Management in Retailing is the most highly regarded development programme for CEOs, senior management and directors of retail and retail-related companies in the Asia-Pacific region.

The programme explores the “Eight Ways to Win in Retailing”, latest global trends and the strategies employed by some of the most profitable retailers in the world.

By analysing actual business situations, the programme emphasises ways to implement strategy-level decisions through competitive assessment, financial and productivity analysis, assortment planning, consumer research, merchandising management, personnel management and the creation of an effective corporate culture.

Some testimonials include:

"The Strategic Planning and Management in Retailing programme has forced me to scrutinise my key costs such as labour, rent and inventory and made me rethink my entire business model and fundamentals.  Since then, I have adjusted my merchandising and buying strategies with the end result of seeing a 20% to 40% improvement in sales while reducing inventory by 40%.  Needless to say, this has freed up a lot of resources to be used elsewhere.  It has made me realised that some of my stores are over-sized and need new business model development.  Recently I opened a new store with half the usual floor area, with 25% less manpower, half the inventory and still see heathy sales figures.  This course was definitely worth my time and money.  Many thanks to the Retail Academy of Singapore." - Eric, Business Owner from Manila

"Overall, the programme content is good and the strategic and profitability models introduced fit the retail environment in Singapore." - Jasmine Sng, General Manager, Muji (Singapore) Pte Ltd

"The programme is very informative. I have enjoyed the open discussions and group assignments.  The facilitators, Professor Larry Ring and Professor John Strong, are experienced, knowledgeable and approachable." - Kim Wong, Commercial Director, Lane Crawford (Hong Kong) Ltd
