The majority of individuals on the MBA are middle managers wishing to prepare for more senior positions or senior managers wishing to update and broaden their skills base. Qualifications will normally be an Honours Degree or its equivalent. However, in recognition of the many very competent people in the distributive trades who are non-graduates, a candidate may be accepted if he or she has significant and relevant work experience, and has the ability to undertake postgraduate study.
The MBA in Retailing is a modular programme that allows you to study at your own pace. It covers both general management as well as retail specific subjects. It has been developed in close co-operation with the retail sector and is delivered through a combination of face to face teaching and distance learning materials. The Study Schools and tutorials are held in Singapore. Whilst the study schools are not compulsory students are encouraged to attend whenever possible because of the benefits of meeting and working with students from a wide range of backgrounds.
The teaching of the programme is undertaken by staff of the Institute, other academics and retail practitioners supported by industry tutors who are recognised teachers of the University.
Assessment is a combination of coursework and examination.
The MBA in Retailing is a postgraduate programme open to both graduates and non- graduates.
In practice, the MBA in Retailing attracts a good balance between graduates and non-graduates with applicants being drawn not only from retailing itself, but also from many organisations associated with the supply and provision of services to the sector (for example, manufacturers, software companies and financial service providers).

The total cost of the programme includes the cost of all tuition, study materials and relevant texts at study schools and tutorial teaching (excluding travel).
STUDY SCHOOL DATE
The programme is divided into 4 study schools each lasting approximately 4 months and the final study school 5 lasting 8 months for the Dissertation. Each study period starts and ends with a study school where new modules are introduced and taught, and old modules concluded. Teaching methods include seminars, guest speakers, tutorials and case study workshops.
