The Retail Academy of Singapore

The Retail Academy will organise a series of breakfast seminars for retail CEOs. This format is used to fit learning into the busy work schedule of retail leaders who desire to keep abreast of the latest retail practices and processes for business growth and managing change. Each seminar will feature a prominent retail leader or international retail expert who will share his insights in retailing related to growth and change. The first breakfast seminar on Merchandise and Assortment Planning received an overwhelming reponse and was attended by some 50 participants. Category Management, traditionally the domain of supermarkets is developing into a broader but critical skill for retail managers of other retail formats. Retailer are able to improve profitability by identifying market segmentation based on consumer preferences, maximise sales per selling area and building optimised assortments. The process supports decision making processes to determine the real demand to achieve assortment and space optimisation by determining ideal store clusters and product assortments down to the individual store, department and category level.
